What is CREW?

CREW stands for Cook, Read, Exercise, and Write, which I believe are the four fundamental disciplines that everyone needs and should practice regularly. Each one of these disciplines offers something unique to the person performing them.

Cooking can be a creative act, as well as a way to nourish yourself and those around you. Cooking can also be used to bring people together and show them you care about them.

Reading is an essential exercise for your mind. All the greatest thinkers and leaders throughout history have been avid readers. Reading is a way to learn, grow, and in a modern world filled with screens, reading offers a way to disconnect.

Exercise holds obvious physical benefits, and regular exercise is associated with good health. A body in motion stays in motion. But exercise also offers numerous mental and chemical benefits. It also offers a way to build confidence through physical accomplishments.

Writing, like reading, is an essential exercise of good mental health. Writing offers the user the ability to clear their head. It allows for the expansion and cultivation of ideas, thoughts, and emotions, as well as the healing of trauma. By writing often, we learn how to better articulate our thoughts, and therefore become better communicators, which leads to success in our personal and professional lives.

When put together and practiced regularly, cooking, reading, exercising, and writing offer a way for anyone in any situation to improve their life. That’s been my experience, and that’s the experience I want to share here.

Under each CREW page you will find examples from my daily practices. You can replicate them, say in the case of a recipe under Cooking, or a book under Reading. You can try an exercise or workout under Exercise. You use my Writing to inspire and motivate your. How you choose to utilize each page is up to you.

In the end, I’m not interested in telling you what to do, I’m only interested in sharing what I do, with you. And hopefully that will motivate you and your practices.
