Book Review/Takeaways: Junglekeeper
Paul Rosolie’s story is a wild adventure of a kid who never gave up on his dream of protecting the Amazon. Over a 20 year period of frequents trips to the Amazon, Paul fell in love with the jungle, and developed a need to be it’s keeper. Junglekeeper tells this story in fascinating detail, bringing the reader along for the adventure. And showing what it means to dedicate your life to something as big as protecting the jungles and rivers of the Amazon.
I first learned about Paul Rosolie and his new book listening to an episode of the Joe Rogan podcast. When I started the book I was just expecting a collection of Paul’s wildest stories, but what I got was so much more. While the book is abound with stories that are so far out of the reality we live in that at times they seem made up, it’s these stories that tell us about Paul’s journey from young adventurer to grown conservationist. From struggling activist, to the leader of the Junglekeepers, responsible for protecting over 110,000 acres of jungle.
I found Paul’s story and willingness to be vulnerable about all his ups and downs, extremely inspiring. Through setbacks and failures he never gave up and opted instead for the easy life. He continued to go back, fight, and try new ways. For anyone that has a big goal, a big dream, or visions of a big life, this is the book that will help keep you going, by reminding you that big dreams do come true. I really enjoyed this book.
